Van With Driver Hire in London

You arrange the loading and unloading. We provide the van and driver for the journey.

Van and driver only from £60/hour

Seven days a week, 8am to 8pm · Quote agreed before booking

CityGrip offers van with driver hire in London from £60 per hour for customers who arrange their own loading and unloading. This is driver-only transport: loading, unloading and carrying belongings are not included. Tell us what needs moving, both postcodes and the access at each address so we can confirm a suitable van and the full quote. Removals run seven days a week, 8am to 8pm. A quote request does not reserve a date.

No loading or unloading help is included. You arrange enough people to carry and handle the items at both addresses. Confirm the complete quote before booking.

Van and driver only: what you need to arrange.

The £60/hour starting option provides the van and driver for the agreed transport. You arrange all loading and unloading, including the people needed to carry boxes and furniture between the property and the van. The driver does not provide a spare pair of hands for a heavy item under this option.

Plan the help at collection and delivery before choosing the service. If a friend can load at the first address but nobody can unload at the destination, driver-only is not the complete arrangement you need. Explain the situation when asking for a quote so a suitable service can be discussed.

For carrying help, see one mover and a van from £80/hour or two movers and a van from £95/hour. Describe the actual items, stairs and access; the number of people required depends on the job.

Choose driver-only, one mover or two movers.

People use ‘van and driver’, ‘man with a van’ and ‘man and van’ to mean different things. With CityGrip, the distinction is the help you book. Van and driver only starts from £60/hour with no loading or unloading help. One mover and a van starts from £80/hour; two movers and a van starts from £95/hour.

Do not choose the crew from the number of boxes alone. A small load can contain an awkward wardrobe or a heavy piece that needs more people. Tell us its dimensions, known weight and route through doors, stairs and lifts before agreeing the assistance.

This page is for a vehicle supplied with its driver. It is not a self-drive rental booking where you collect the keys and drive the van yourself. Use the quote form to describe the transport you need rather than assuming self-drive rental terms apply.

Give us the load, not just a van size.

List boxes, bags and individual pieces of furniture. Include the dimensions and known weights of large or awkward items, and say if furniture will already be dismantled. Photos sent on WhatsApp can help explain the load and access, alongside the item list.

CityGrip's van options include smaller vans such as a Ford Transit Custom or Renault Trafic, Transit short, medium and long wheelbase vans, and Luton vans including tail-lift options. The suitable vehicle and its availability must be confirmed for the job; the £60/hour starting rate does not promise every van size at that rate.

If you need a tail lift, explain what it is needed for and discuss the handling arrangement before booking. A tail-lift enquiry does not add loading assistance to a driver-only service.

Plan loading access at both addresses.

Give the collection and delivery postcodes, then describe the entrance the van needs to reach. Include gates, height restrictions, loading bays, stairs, lift bookings and the distance from the building to the likely loading position. Check managed-building moving hours with the building team.

Arrange your helpers around the agreed collection and delivery times. Have packed belongings ready and keep the carrying route clear. For a seller collection, confirm who will be present, which item is being released and who will load it; do not assume a seller has agreed to lift it.

Check parking and loading restrictions for the actual street. TfL's red-route loading guidance explains that restrictions depend on signs and markings. A collection address is not permission to stop anywhere outside it. Share known restrictions when requesting your quote.

Collections, room moves and customer-arranged storage.

Driver-only transport can be discussed for a room load, boxes or furniture when you have arranged suitable handling at both ends. For a purchase from a shop or private seller, our furniture collection and delivery guide explains the item and release details to provide.

For transport into or out of customer-arranged storage, confirm the facility address, unit access and opening arrangements directly with the provider. Arrange the people who will load or unload there. Storage rental and a later return journey are not included automatically.

For a journey beyond London, send the destination postcode with the enquiry. CityGrip takes moves beyond London, but the actual route and price need to be agreed. A London hourly starting price is not a fixed fare for every distance.

Confirm the hours, inclusions and total before booking.

The van-and-driver starting rate is £60/hour, with no loading or unloading help. Ask how chargeable time is measured, what minimum booking applies, and how additional time or stops would be handled. An hourly rate alone does not establish the total cost of a move.

Give the route and access information so any applicable charges can be discussed. Confirm the complete amount payable and what is included before booking rather than assuming parking, road charges or a particular tax treatment. Packing and carrying help must be requested and agreed separately.

CityGrip accepts card and bank transfer. Hire and reward insurance is held; goods in transit cover is available at extra cost. Ask for the terms relevant to your belongings. A quote enquiry becomes a booking only when the details and price have been agreed.

Your questions, answered.

How much is van with driver hire in London?

CityGrip's van and driver only option starts from £60/hour. No loading or unloading help is included. The vehicle, route, minimum booking and complete price must be confirmed for your job.

Does the £60/hour driver help load or unload?

No. You arrange all loading and unloading and enough people to handle the items at both addresses. If you need carrying help, request one mover and a van from £80/hour or two movers and a van from £95/hour.

Is van and driver hire the same as one man and a van?

Service wording varies. At CityGrip, van and driver only starts from £60/hour without loading or unloading help. One mover and a van starts from £80/hour, and two movers and a van from £95/hour. Explain the load and access so suitable assistance can be agreed.

Can I drive the van myself?

This service supplies a van with its driver for the agreed transport. It is not a self-drive van rental booking.

Can you collect from a seller or storage unit?

Send the item list, both postcodes and the collection arrangements. With driver-only transport you arrange loading and unloading. Confirm seller release details or storage access directly, and ask us to assess the actual journey.

Which van size is included at £60/hour?

£60/hour is a starting rate, not a promise that every vehicle is available at that price. Describe the load, dimensions and access so the suitable vehicle and full quote can be confirmed.

What are your London removals hours?

Removals run seven days a week, 8am to 8pm. Request your preferred date and time; availability and the booking must be confirmed.

What should I send for a van-and-driver quote?

Send an item list, dimensions and known weights of bulky pieces, both postcodes, the date, and parking or access details. Confirm that you have arranged all loading and unloading help at both ends.

Let’s plan the details.
