Van Hire With Loading Help in London
Need the van and help with the lifting? Plan the assistance at collection and delivery before moving day.
One mover and a van from £80/hour
Seven days a week, 8am to 8pm · Quote agreed before booking
CityGrip offers van hire with loading and unloading help in London, with one mover and a van from £80/hour or two movers and a van from £95/hour. Tell us which items need carrying and the access at both addresses so we can agree suitable assistance. This service supplies the van with its driver and the agreed moving help. It is different from the £60/hour van-and-driver-only option, which includes no loading or unloading assistance. Removals run seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.
Two movers and a van start from £95/hour. The load, access and help needed at both addresses must be assessed and agreed in your quote.

Your quote preparation checklist
Tick these off as you prepare the details. No information is sent from this checklist.
Ready? Open the quote form →Book the help you need at each end.
Start with the work you need done: carrying packed boxes from a room, moving furniture down stairs, loading at a seller's address, or unloading into your new home. Explain the collection and delivery separately. An easy ground-floor pickup can still end at a flat with several flights of stairs.
Give the floor, whether a working lift can be used, and the distance between the entrance and the likely loading position. Mention steps inside the property, a basement, narrow corridors or a gate that changes the carrying route. Ask the building team whether a lift or loading slot must be reserved.
If you will not be helping with the carrying, say so when requesting the quote. We need to assess the load and the people required rather than assume a customer, seller or neighbour will lift an item. The agreed crew should match the work at both ends.
One mover or two? Use the items and access to decide.
One mover and a van starts from £80/hour. It can be discussed for smaller loads when the items and access are suitable. List everything, including a desk, mattress or shelving that travels outside the boxes. A short item list does not necessarily mean the job needs only one person.
Two movers and a van starts from £95/hour. Tell us about bulky furniture, known weights, stairs and longer carries when asking whether a two-person crew is appropriate. Two people do not make every item or route suitable; unusual pieces need assessment before booking.
Photographs can show the item and its route, but include dimensions and known weights where relevant. Explain whether furniture will be dismantled beforehand. If you need dismantling or assembly assistance, request it specifically so the task and time can be considered.
Loading help, driver-only transport and self-drive hire.
‘Van hire with help’, ‘van with a helper’ and ‘man and van with loading help’ are ways customers describe a move where they need assistance as well as transport. For CityGrip, the one-mover and two-mover options are the starting point for that enquiry. Confirm the actual loading, carrying and unloading tasks in the quote.
Van and driver only starts from £60/hour. Under that option you arrange all loading and unloading; the driver supplies no carrying help. Choose it only when suitable help is already arranged at both addresses.
This page is for a van supplied with a driver and agreed moving assistance. It is not a self-drive rental where you drive the vehicle yourself. If you already have a hired van and want people only, explain that separately; this page and these prices do not establish a labour-only service.
Furniture collections, small moves and storage transfers.
For a furniture collection from a shop or private seller, confirm the item, release time and contact at collection. Tell us if the seller will only open the door, rather than help carry anything. Measure the delivery route before buying a large piece.
For a studio, room or flat move, include the whole load and the building arrangements. Packed boxes, loose furniture and a bed that needs taking apart involve different work. For a larger home, use the house removals guide to prepare a fuller inventory.
For transport to or from customer-arranged storage, send the facility address, unit floor and access arrangements. Storage rental is separate. A return delivery is another journey to discuss, and facility trolleys or lifts should be checked directly with the provider.
Prepare the belongings and the carrying route.
Have boxes packed and clearly labelled unless packing help has been agreed. Keep keys and immediate essentials separate, and identify any items that must stay behind. Let us know about fragile belongings and how they are packed before moving day.
Packing assistance, furniture disassembly and assembly can be requested. Packing materials need advance notice. Loading help does not automatically include packing the contents, providing materials or taking furniture apart; ask for each task you need.
Check the entrance, stairs, lift and loading position before the date. Keep shared access clear and coordinate keys, gate access and lift bookings with the people responsible for the building. For red routes, TfL's loading guidance explains why the actual signs, permitted times and bay availability matter. Share any restrictions with us.
Get a quote for the assistance, not just the van.
Send both postcodes, your preferred date, an item list and the access details. State where you need loading or unloading help and whether you can assist. We can then discuss the crew, suitable vehicle and price for that particular move.
The starting rates are £80/hour for one mover and a van and £95/hour for two movers and a van. Confirm the minimum booking, how time is charged, any additional stops and the complete amount payable before booking. An hourly rate does not predict the time needed for every property or item.
For a journey beyond London, include the destination postcode so the actual route can be discussed. CityGrip accepts card and bank transfer. Hire and reward insurance is held; goods in transit cover is available at extra cost, with applicable terms to confirm. A quote request does not reserve a date: the details and price must be agreed before the booking is confirmed.

Student moves, packing or storage transport?
Your questions, answered.
How much is van hire with help in London?
One mover and a van starts from £80/hour, and two movers and a van from £95/hour. Describe the load, access and loading or unloading help needed at both addresses so suitable assistance and the complete quote can be agreed.
Does the £60/hour van include loading help?
No. The £60/hour starting option is van and driver only, with no loading or unloading help. You arrange all carrying at both ends. Request one mover or two movers if you need assistance.
Can I book help if I cannot lift anything myself?
Tell us that you will not be able to assist, and provide the items, dimensions, known weights and access. The crew and work must be assessed and agreed without assuming you or someone else will carry an item.
Do I need one mover or two movers?
That depends on the items and handling route, including furniture size, known weights, stairs, lifts and carrying distance. Send those details so suitable assistance can be discussed. One mover is not suitable for every load, and two movers do not make every item or route suitable.
Can loading help cover stairs and flats?
Describe the floors, stairs, lift and carrying distance at collection and delivery. The actual assistance and price must be agreed around those conditions; do not assume an unreported staircase is covered by a starting price.
Are packing and furniture assembly included?
Request packing, materials, furniture disassembly or assembly separately when enquiring. These tasks need to be discussed and agreed rather than assumed to be included with loading help. Materials need advance notice.
Can you provide help for a Marketplace or shop collection?
Send the item, both postcodes and the seller's collection arrangements. Say who can release the item and whether the seller will provide any handling help. Confirm the crew and assistance for the actual collection and delivery.
Is this self-drive van hire or a labour-only service?
This page covers a van supplied with its driver and agreed moving help. It is not a self-drive rental, and these prices do not establish a people-only service for a van you have hired elsewhere.
Let’s plan the details.
Removals run seven days a week, 8am–8pm. Send your inventory, date and access details. A quote enquiry is not a confirmed booking.
