Man and Van North London: House Moves, Flat Removals and Furniture Transport

North London moves often come down to stairs, slopes and narrow streets in the inner north, and volume and distance further out. Tell us what you are moving and we confirm the price before anything is booked.

  • Price upfront, before you book
  • All of London and beyond
  • Seven days a week, 8am to 8pm
  • Phone, WhatsApp or online form

CityGrip Recovery arranges man and van, house removals, flat removals, two-mover jobs and furniture transport in North London, from Camden, Islington and Haringey out to Barnet and Enfield. You tell us the type of move, the number of movers you think you need and the access at both addresses, and we explain what is included and confirm the price before you book.

Areas by borough

North London merges into north-west and north-east London, and several areas sit on borough boundaries. Finsbury Park and Archway sit where Haringey, Islington and neighbouring boroughs meet, Bounds Green is shared between Haringey and Enfield, and Kilburn between Brent and Camden. If you are unsure, give us the postcode.

Stairs, slopes and conversions

Much of inner North London is made up of older houses split into flats. That affects a move in a few predictable ways.

Narrow stairs

In a converted house, a sofa or wardrobe may need to turn on a landing or may not fit. Measure before you book and tell us the floor.

Steep or narrow streets

Some streets in the north of the city run uphill or are narrow, which can affect where a van can stop. If yours is one, say so.

Shared entrances

A shared hallway and front door mean neighbours to consider. Let us know about restricted access times or other residents.

Parking in controlled zones

Many streets are in controlled parking zones. Check the signs and your council's rules for loading before the day.

Larger family homes in the outer north

In Barnet and Enfield, a house may have a loft, garage and garden storage. Tell us what needs moving, not just the bedrooms.

Furniture-led moves

Where the job is mostly large pieces, two movers may do more for you than a bigger van.

What kind of move can be arranged

Most moves fit one of four types. A small flat or a few items is a job for a man and van with one mover or two. A flat with stairs or heavy furniture often suits two movers. A multi-bedroom home is a planned house removals job. And items bought from a shop or seller are a furniture collection and delivery job.

Quotations are worked out from the details you give us: addresses, floors, access, the amount and weight of what is being moved, the date and the number of movers. We confirm the price and what is included before you book, so you can compare it with other quotes on equal terms.

Rules and charges to know about

Loading and waiting rules depend on the markings and signs at your address. The Highway Code sets out the national rules on yellow lines and loading, and TfL's red routes page covers the red routes that run through parts of North London, where stopping outside a marked bay can lead to a penalty charge notice. The council controlling your street arranges bay suspensions and permits; find yours through your local council.

The ULEZ covers every London borough, so it depends on the vehicle rather than the area. A route from North London into the centre can also touch the Congestion Charge zone. See TfL's ULEZ and Congestion Charge pages, and ask us whether any charge is included in your quote.

North London removals FAQs

How do I know if I need two movers in a converted flat?

If the furniture is heavy or awkward, or you are on a higher floor with no lift, two movers are usually safer. Describe the stairs and the largest pieces, and we will recommend.

My street is steep and narrow. Is that a problem?

It can affect where the van stops and how long the carry is. Tell us on the quote form so the plan reflects it.

Is Stoke Newington in North or East London?

It is in the London Borough of Hackney, which is mainly East London. It is listed on this page because many people think of it as north London. Put the full postcodes on the quote form.

Which page covers Wembley, Harrow or Kilburn?

Brent and Harrow are in north west London and are covered here and on the West London page. Kilburn is shared between Brent and Camden.

What should I check about parking in a controlled parking zone?

Check the signs on your street and your council's rules for loading and for visitors. Find your council through find your local council, and tell us what you have found.
